Hi, I'm Melvillyn, but most people just call me Mev. I've spent a huge part of my life around glass. My dad made stained glass for years, and my parents opened this shop over 30 years ago. I'm passionate about the art of lamp working (making glass beads), and this shop is very close to my heart. I love meeting all of the wonderful people who come into this store week after week from all over the world and sharing my love of glass with them. I hope you'll come by and say hello!

In 1982 when my dad retired from the sheet metal business, he and my mother started a small business in the Historic La Villita district, just steps from the Riverwalk. He loved making stained glass and created many beautiful panels, kaleidoscopes, sun catchers and candle boxes. Their journey lasted for many years until my dad was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

I took over when my parents were unable to continue, and although I do not create stained glass, I continued their love of glass. My passion is making glass beads (also known as lamp working), and you often can find me creating my next bead in my studio in the back of the shop. (I'd love for you to stop by and see me!) I also feature a number of local and regional artists' work in the store who specialize in mosaic, stained glass lamps, fusing, dichroic crosses, jewelry, and more.

At Villita Stained Glass, we are proud to feature work from a number of Texas artists, many of whom are local to San Antonio. We are so proud to have them as a part of our Villita Stained Glass family, and we hope you'll love them as much as we do! Come check out our shop to find work from these artists and more.
